4 Mar 1637/8 Jo: Gibbs was a "committee" member (ie. representative) at the General Court of Connecticut.[1]

24 Mar 1640 John Gibbs recorded his holdings in Wethersfield: a house, barn and 4 acres of land bordered by High Street on the west; the Great meadow, east, Rev. John Serman north and John Reynolds south. He sold this land to Lt John Hollister in 1645. He and about a dozen men left Wethersfield to join the Colony at New Haven about 1640. [2]

John Gibbs was on the freemans list dated 1643, but estimated to be from 1641, he having been admitted to the court in 1640. John Gibbs signed the New Haven Fundamental Agreement, not at the first signing in 1639, but in one of the years afterward. In 1644 he signed the Oath of fidelity. He got fined for neglecting watch and his gun not working. He was granted land and bought land, served on committees, and was chosen a deputy to the New Haven Court and had seats assigned in the meeting house.[3] Will dated Nov. 27, 1685, inventory Jan. 1, 1690, names wife Hannah and only daughter Margaret Gibbs. Suspect I am inquiring more than anything else.

Profile reports no date of birth, however, he was serving in an official capacity as early as 4 Mar 1637/8, and registered land holdings 24 Mar 1640. Then, "freemans list dated 1643, but estimated to be from 1641," and he sold land in 1645.

While it would make for quite a difference between his age and that of wife Hannah, could we provide some guidance to his age by suggesting he was at least age 21 by 1640, thus born no later than 1619?
