Harrison Gibson served in the United States Civil War. Enlisted: 1861 Side: CSA Regiment(s): 38th Virginia Infantry
Harrison H. Gibson was born about 1840 in Montgomery, Virginia to James(1793) and Lucy(1808) Gibson.
The 1850 census of Montgomery showed parents James and Lucy with the following children:
Elizabeth 1830
Jabez S. 1838
HARRISON H. GIBSON 1840
America(f) 1835
Mary A. 1840
America and Mary not listed chronologically.
Harrison married Pauline H. Willis on May 16, 1859 in Montgomery, Virginia. The record would match the 1850 census, showing Harrison's parents as James and Lucy Gibson. Pauline's parents shown simply as M. and P. Willis.
The 1860 census of northern Pittsylvania County would reveal Harrison to be much younger than Pauline. She being 35 to his 21. As result the parents of three children in the home would have to be in question:
Nicholas 1852
Thomas 1854
Almira 1856
Harrison enlisted in the CSA in 1861, serving with the 38th Virginia Infantry, Company B. As much of the 38th, he was in the Battle of Gettysburg. He was listed as missing, but was actually taken prisoner and sent to Point Lookout, Maryland.
