Biography

Jane was born in 1888^[1] in Hull, Yorkshire, England. She was the daughter of Thomas Gibson and Susan Oliver. In 1891 the family lived at 6 Carrill Terrace, Hull.^[2] By 1901 they had moved to 75 Regent Street^[3] and at the time of the 1911 census, the family lived at 14 Argyle Street.^[4]

On New Year's Eve 1914 Jane married James Welsh in Cottingham, Yorkshire.^[5][6] In 1921 James worked as an electrician at F Atkins & Co's tin box factory, and the Welsh family lived in Hull.^[7] The family lived in Cottingham with Jane's father in 1939. James worked in a factory and Jane carried out "unpaid domestic duties."^[8]

James died in 1962 at the age of 72.^[9] Jane died in 1978.^[10][11]
