Biography

George was born in 1850[1] in Flinton, Yorkshire, England, where he lived with his parents in 1851.[2] By 1861 they had moved to Withernwick, Yorkshire.[3]

At the time of the 1871 census, George worked as a journeyman shoemaker, lodging on Butcher Row, Seaton, Yorkshire.[4]

In 1873 he married Betsy GARTON in Sigglesthorne, Yorkshire.[5][6] By 1881 the family lived at 51 Seaton Street in Hull, Yorkshire; George was a rulleyman.[7] In 1891 they lived at 38 Grange Street and George was working as a shoemaker again;[8] in 1901 they lived at 101 Regent Street.[9] In 1911 George was working as a farm labourer and the family lived at 50 Steynburg Street.[10]

George died in 1936 aged 86.[11]
