Thomas was born in 1880[1] in Hull, Yorkshire, England, where he lived at 51 Seaton Street in 1881;[2] in 1891 they lived at 38 Grange Street.[3]
In 1905 he married Edith BEARSDALL in Crookes, Sheffield, Yorkshire.[4][5] In 1911 the family lived at 72 College Road, Rotherham, Yorkshire; Thomas was a grocer's assistant.[6]
