Vincent is listed with his parents on both: the 1850 Census (in Scott, Virginia)[2] and the 1860 Census (in Wise, Virginia).[3]
In March of 1862 he enlisted in the Civil War on the Confederate side into the 21st Regiment of the Virginia Infantry in Company I, in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. On August 9, 1862 he was wounded (shoulder) but remained in service until he mustered out on March 20, 1865 in Pike, Kentucky.[4] While in Kentucky he met and married Lucinda McGee; it is unknown if he was married prior to his marriage to Lucinda:
It is believed but unverified that he passed away prior to the 1870 Census. His known children; Hester and James are listed with his parents on the 1870 Census. Hester Gibson is also listed with her paternal grandparents on the 1880 Census prior to her marriage to James Lane in 1886. James Gibson married Ellen Lane in December of 1892.
He is linked to his daughter; Hester - by her marriage to James Lane:
