Biography

Hamilton Cree Gibson was born September 2, 1874, in Iowa. He is the son of James Gibson and Martha Melvin.[1]

Hamilton (6) was living on the farm in Union County, Iowa, in 1880. His father was working on the farm and his mother was keeping house.[2][3]

Hamilton married Rosa Alice Miller December 17, 1895, in Afton, Iowa.[4]

In 1900, Hamilton (25) and his family were living in Monroe Township, Ringgold County, Iowa.[5]

Sometime after 1906, Hamilton and his family moved by train to Fullerton, Dickey County, North Dakota, with some milk cows. They initially lived in a hotel there and during that time lost their daughter, Gladys, to the "Black Measles". After burying their daughter, they moved on to Ellendale where they began supplying fresh milk daily to the people of that town.[6][7]

In 1920, the family is listed in Van Meter in Dickey County.[8]

It appears that Hamilton and the remnant of his family moved into the town of Ellendale in 1930.[9]

By 1940, Hamilton and Rosa have no children living with them.[10]

Hamilton Gibson died in 1950 in Dickey County, North Dakota.[6]
