Biography

John was born in 1890 in Union Parish, Louisiana[1] to Alex Gibson and Mollie Hamilton. His birth occurs before their marriage so it may be he had a different biological father.

He was a railroad worker.

In August of 1932, he was near his home when he was shot in both legs. His right leg was amputated, but he died of infection from the wounds nearly a month later at a hospital.[2] in Mason City, Iowa. He is buried at Manly Cemetery in Worth County, Iowa.[3]
