It has been discovered that Hiram Gibson's birth dates are all over the place. There is nothing consistent, but in knowing the family it is possible to weed out the errors. There are errors made in B/C, D/C, newspaper articles, and census records. With that said, I have edited this bio.

Hiram Gibson's headstone says he was born in 1820. A newspaper article, November 7, 1907 says that his family celebrated his 87th birthday on his "natal" day, - Indiana Evening Gazette (He was born November 7, 1820)

1910 Census says he was 89. Hiram would turn 90 later that year.

Civil War Reg. June 1, 1863, Hiram says he is 42. He will turn 43 later that year. (born in 1820).

The 1900 census, as many other censuses have his age wrong. Hiram was not born September, 1821.

Hiram Gibson is shown on the 1850 Green Township, Indiana County, PA, is living near Gibsons and Dicks and with his wife, Catherine. He is 32, she is 27. Their children Molly, 4 and Susetta 2 live with them.

A birth record in Indiana County is found for Gibson, Green Township, Irving W. Gibson, a son of Hiram Gibson, farmer, and Catherine Wike. Others: Mary & Luzetta. Birth of child was Oct. 17, 1852.
