Biography
James Gideon was born in St. Helena Island to parents of English citizenship.
James was born about 1827. He is the son of Lewis Solomon and Julia Magnus.
9 Apr 1861 - Bachelor Merchant James Magnus Gideon of Jamestown married Spinster Emily St Love Charlier of Jamestown at St James Anglican Church on Saint Helena.
The following announcement of his marriage appeared in The Illustrated London News dated 8 June 1861 [1]
- On the 9th of April, at the Island of St Helena, by the Lord Bishop of St Helena, assisted by the Rev. G Bennett, James Magnus Gideon, esq., to Emily St. Love, daughter of the late Deputy-Assistant Commissary-General Joseph Charlier
James Magnus Gideon was registered as a member of the William Preston Lodge of the United Grand Lodges of England Freemasons in Anerley, London. He was initiated on 23 September 1869. [2]

James Magnus Gideon died on 19 June 1905 while living at 45 Mount Nod Road in Streatham, Surrey. His probate was granted on 4 July 1905 to his widow, Emily St. Love Gideon in the amount of £1022 14s 6d. [6] He was 78 years of age. [7]
