Charles H. Gidley of Napoleon, Henry County, Ohio, was born in Bristol County, Massachusetts, in 1834, and was a son of Charles and his first wife, Bathsheba (Kelley) Gidley. After his father's re-marriage the family left Massachusetts and settled in Crawford County, Ohio, in 1852, and then came to Henry County in 1865. Charles Howland Gidley, was reared as a farmer, and was engaged in that business up to 1880. He was elected County Treasurer and served four years, Justice of the Peace for five years in Damascus, and also held other town offices. He was married in 1860 to Barbara Jenkins of Virginia. They have had one child, Florence, who was born in 1865. Mr. Gidley became engaged in the marble and granite business at Napoleon, and is now a member of the firm of Halter and Gidley.
