Gediminas Lietuvos is Notable.

Grand Duke of Lithuania, Duke of Pinsk.

According to the Lithuanian Wikipedia article [1] Gediminas was born about 1275 (place unknown) and died in 1341 at 66 years of age in Vilnius. His parents are unknown, and the question has been a matter of speculation amongst historians. Gediminas was the founder of the Lithuanian monarchical dynasty called Gediminaičiai (in the nominative plural).

Gediminas was married to Ieva, Vindemunda, and Olga of Smolensk. Gediminas had seven sons and four daughters: Algirdas, Kęstutis, Liubartas, Jaunutis, Mantvydas, Narimantas, Karijotas, Elžbieta, Marija, Eufemija, Aldona. Of Gediminas' offspring, Algirdas and Kęstutis played the most important roles in Lithuanian and European history. Algirdas fathered Jogaila, future King of Poland. Kęstutis fathered Vytautas - called Dydisis (the Great), future Grand Duke of Lithuania. Together these two cousins with their united Polish-Lithuanian army defeated the Teutonic Order (Knights of the Cross), thought to be invincible, in 1410 at Grünwald.

Gediminas ruled as Grand Duke of Lithuania for 25 years, from 1316 to 1341, and from 1320 onwards he was Duke of Pinsk. Gediminas was killed - probably by poisoning - in the last week of 1341. He was followed by his son Jaunutis as Grand Duke of Lithuania, and by Narimantas as Duke of Pinsk.

Thanks, Darlene, for giving Gediminas his true name (Gediminas, instead of Gediminas Of). That was the main thorn in the eye; I realise that it is often very hard to know what to correct and what to leave in an adopted profile.
Hi Albertus, this isn't a profile I created. I only took it on to 'protect' it from being orphaned. His last name at birth is shown as Lithuania, as is his father's...
The name of this Grand Duke and founder of the Lithuanian princely dynasty called, after him, Gediminaiciai is Gediminas, not Gediminas Of. He had no surname. If one feels the absolute need to give him a surname in English, then Lithuania should probably go into the surname-at-birth field, and of Lithuania in the current-surname field. The name Gediminas Of is misleading and confusing. One could think that Of is part of his Lithuanian given name! Some non-Lithuanian scholars invented the name Pukuveras as his father, but the name shown here for his mother - Pukuveras Ze is not only unknown, it is non-sensical and contrary to grammar: Pukuveras is masculine, Ze has no meaning at all.
