Jacob Giem was born in April 1852 in Ohio.[1]

In 1870, Jacob "Gien" lived in Sherman, Wabasha, Minnesota, with his parents, Wm. and Elizabeth, and 4 siblings.[2]

Amelia "Mollie" Blaska and Jacob Giem were married on 15 Feb 1874 in Wabasha County, Minnesota.[3][4][5]. Based on census and other records, they had at least 10 children, including the following children:

  • Frederick E. Giem, b. 18 April 1875; d. 3 Mar 1947
  • Ella Giem, b. ca. 1877
  • William Jacob Giem, June 1879
  • Nora (Giem) Marchant, b. 28 June 1883/4; m. -- Marchant; m. Willis A. Schuler 1 Aug 1946
  • Jesse Henry Giem, b. May 1887; d. 2 May 1949 Saskatchewan, Canada[6]

In 1900, Jacob Giem lived in Morgan Village, Redwood, Minnesota, with his wife Amelia, 7 children and his father. It also appears that son Frederick and his wife living with them.[1]

In 1916, Jacob Giem lived in Coalfields Municipality, District 16 Assiniboia, Saskatchewan, Canada. Jessie, his wife and two sons were enumerated immediately below Jacob's family. They all immigrated in 1906 and Jacob was naturalized in 1911. All were of German extraction. Jacob was a farmer.[11]
