Married Bernhardt Cousler (Kaussler?) b 8 Jun 1777, bp 8 Jul 1777.
Letter from Jan L. Barnhart (10/15/03) There are two cemeteries in Winterstown. The old one was associated with the United Brethren Church and the other with the Evangelical Church. Both are German forms of Methodism that split from the German Reformed and Lutheran Churches respectively in the late 18th century. These two denomination merged with the "English" Methodists in the 1960s to become the United Methodist Church. Back to Winterstown, which is located three or so miles south of Red Lion....the old U. B. cemetery is located on the eastern edge of Winterstown a few blocks off the main street - Winterstown Road also known as state route 24. The Ev. cemetery is located about a half mile south on the west side of route 24. The original U. B. Church was located in the midst of the old cemetery but was relocated on route 24 in the 1890s. Both these churches united in the 1960s and replaced their old buildings with a modern A frame thing not far north of the Ev. Cemetery. The U. B. cemetery is on a rise overlooking the countryside and is a picturesque location. I have a few blood relations and some allied families from both sides in both locations. The U. B. cemetery goes back to possibly the 1820/1830s or even earlier. I suspect that there were some burials there before the original church was built. The graveyard was originally called the Hausholder Burial Ground. I have found the grave of Maria Magdalena Geesey there, daughter of Johan Conrad and Maria Agathe Baer, who married Bernhardt Cousler, Sr. And, although we cannot find him, I suspect he is also there. The Cousler's son, Barney, Jr., their daughter, Margarethe and their spouses are buried there as well. I believe I mentioned some art - paintings- that Titus gave the Winterstown Church. Last time I saw them they were hanging in the new church building.
