Meanwhile Outagamie County reported that the number of it's cases reached 95 as seven new cases were reported. Both Appleton and Kaukauna placed restrictions on recreation activities because of the incidence of the dread disease. A Neenah resident died in an Appleton hospital today. In Green Bay, Charmin Paper Mills announced cancellation of it's family picnic scheduled for Saturday because of the polio scare. Green Bay's victim of the disease, young Giese, was admitted to the St. Vincent's polio center Monday. He was placed in a iron lung rushed here from St. Mary's Hospital, Wausau, by truck Wednesday afternoon. The lung was one of three brought to the Green Bay center from other hospitals Wednesday, all by truck. The first to arrive was from Wausau at 3 p.m. The second, from the Oconto hospital, arrived about an hour later. The third, from Marquette, Mich., reached St. Vincent's about 5:30. The three additional iron lungs raise to six the number of standard iron lungs at the hospital, five of which are presently in use. A portable iron lung is also being held in readiness, should it be needed. The other two deaths from polio include a 33 year old Kewaunee man and a six year old Algoma girl. Giese's death is the first for Brown County as well as the city. 20 Patients at Center Two additional polio cases were reported by the hospital today. The total number of patients treated at the hospital during the current season is now 31. Twenty are still at the hospital. The new patients are a two year old Green Bay girl and a seven year old De Pere boy. Young Giese, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Giese was born Feb. 11, 1936. He attended St. Mary of the Angels school and graduated in June from Central Catholic High School.
