Primary Source, Obituary of Karl Giese Sr.[6] Data Extract:
) 7 June 1929 Appleton Press: Paraphrase of Obituary of Karl Giese Sr.

) Karl Giese Sr. was born 29 June 1847 at Legerfelde, Neumark Germany. {Editorial this birthplace identification is incorrect as there was no Legerfelde in 1847 Newmark, Prussia. It is nearly certain that this is a transcription error that should have been rendered as Seegenfelde, Neumark, Prussia which is within a Kilometer, or so, of the Schonrade and Blumenfelde, Neumark, Prussia villages Karl cited in his emigration (to America) documents.} He came to America in 1873, and settled first at Shawnee, NY. where in April of 1873 he married Wilhelmina Selfke and they had three children prior to her death in 1877. In the same year Karl remarried to Augusta Gilbrecht, with whom he had seven children. All of Karl's children were living at the time of his death.
) In 1880, Karl Giese moved his family to Minnesota, where he became a pioneer farmer in Fairfield Township of Swift County; later moving to a farm on the outskirts of Holloway Minn. He was a founder of the German Baptist church of Holloway and served as a trustee and Sunday School teacher at the church for 29 years.
) Family surviving his death: wife Augusta Giese; sons, Charles, Frank, Otto and William (all of Holloway); daughters Mrs. Lena McPeck (Hamilton, Ohio), Mrs. Marie Miller (Havre, Mont.), Mrs. Louise Dodge (Minneapolis, MN), Mrs Gusta Cornwall (Holloway), and Mrs. Ida Henn (Strassberg, ND). Karl's brothers Fred, Ferdinand and Henry also survive his death. Karl Giese had 45 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren at the time of his death.
