Adam was born 27 November 1838 in Walter, Russia. He was the son of Nikolaus Giesick and Katharina Walter

He married Elisabeth Katharina Roth in 1857 in Walter, Russia. Along with his parents and siblings they moved to the Brunnental colony in 1859.

He immigrated to America aboard the steamship S.S. Aller, leaving Breman, Germany and arriving in New York City on 25 December 1886 with his wife, son Conrad and his daughter in law.[1]

He passed away 19 July 1910 at his home in Otis Kansas.[2]
