Biography

William was born November 5, 1835, the son of William Giffin and Thomasine Eyre.

He married Margaret Elizabeth Hollingsworth on January 30, 1862. Their marriage record was recorded in the County Marriage Registers, 1858 - June 1869.

William and Margaret had two of their own children, Thomas Edwin and Harvey Newton. They were also the adoptive parents of Jane 'Jennie' Parslow, who variously went by her given name, Jennie Parslow, or as Jennie Giffin, and was identified as either their adopted daughter or niece.

Sadly, Thomas and Harvey both died young, and Jennie never married or had children.

William died 16 April 1924, at Oxford Mills, Ontario. The informant listed on the death record was J. Parslow, niece, Oxford Mills. His cause of death was given as cancer of the liver.

William was buried in Oxford Mills Union Cemetery, at Oxford Mills, Ontario.

His obituary was published in The Weekly Advance, Kemptville, on April 24, 1924.
