Biography

Spencer Harrington Giffin was born in 1829, the son of Deacon Simon and Harriet Chadsey Giffin of Isaac's Harbour, NS^{[1] [2]}

On December 22, 1858, he married Susan Morine (January 15, 1833-1919), daughter of Capt. Asa Morine and Dorcas Cohoon, and sister of Olivia Morine Giffin, and had children^[3]including:

1. Alfred Chipman, born 29 November,1858, who married Annie Henderson Jan 6, 1861-1949^[4], and had children including Amy, born August 2, 1886 ^[5] and died in 1950^[6]
2. Asa Morine 1861-1880 (drowned)
3. Ida Blanche, born 1862, who married Atherton Cohoon^[7]
4. Minnie Weston 1864 - 1912, married CF Andrews^{[8] [9]}
5. Stephen Morine, born 14 December 1863, who married Katie Dillon (born May 20, 1870^[10] and had children^{[11] [12] [13]}, and died in 1939 ^[14]
