Biography
According to his WW2 service file, Albert McLennan Gifford was born 29th Novemeber 1910 at Ganmaine, New South Wales. His birth was registered the following year, 1911, at Narrandera, about 50 kms away. [1]
In 1935, at Condobolin, he married Daphne Iris Hyde. [2]

GIFFORD— HYDE
On the evening of Monday, 22nd April, Daphne, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Hyde, of Condobolin, was married to Albert McLennan, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Gifford, of Condobolin, in All Saints' (Church of England) church. Rev. W. C. Arnold officiated.
The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a gown of white blistered satin, featuring a cowl neck line and short train let info the skirt. Her veil of hand embroidered tulle, lent by Mrs. Gardiner, was held in place by a coronet of orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of white rose buds and sweet peas tied with satin ribbon and tulle.
The bridesmaids were Miss Dorothy Hyde, sister -of the bride, Miss Alice Gifford, sister of the bridegroom and Miss Jean Campbell Their frocks were of pink tree-bark crepe and they wore plaited caps of the same material with tulle eye veils Their flowers were pink dahlias and rose buds.
Mr Bill Gifford attended his brother as best man and Messrs George Bright and George McMillan were the groomsmen.
As the bride entered the church the choir of which she has been a member for several years, sang a hymn suitable to the occasion, and during the signing of the register Mrs. Clark, of Sydney, sang. Miss Maud Forlonge presided at the organ.
The church was beautifully decoraed with baskets of flowers and fern and vases of roses and dahlias adorned the altar.
After the ceremony about 50 guests were entertained at the Masonic Hall where the bride's mother, attired in a frock of navy silk crepe trimmed with white, and a matching felt hat ,received the guests. The usual toasts were proposed and honoured in the customary way, Rev. Arnold acting as chairman, and after the wedding breakfast dancing was enjoyed by those present until after midnight.
For her travelling dress the bride chose a grey wool de chene tunic frock, trimmed with blue, and grey accessories.
A large number of beautiful gifts, including cheques, were received. [3]
