Burton was born in 1930. He was the son of Frank Gifford and Mary Stetson. Burton served in the U.S. Air Force and went on to be an Aerospace engineer with NASA in the Houston, TX space center. For many years Burton was a deacon and Sunday School teacher at the First Baptist Church of Pearland, TX. He passed away March 7, 2005. He was buried with Military Honors in the SouthPark Cemetery.
