Robert Gifford was born in LIttle Shelford, Cambridgeshire, England.

Robert was the son of Stephen Gifford and Selah Unknown. He was born in Shelford in 1879 and his birth was registered in Chesterton, Cambridgeshire.^[1]

He was christened at Little Shelford on 11 Jul 1880 ^[2]

In 1891, he was living at Church Street, Little Shelford with his parents and siblings. He was a scholar. ^[3]

In 1901, he was living in East Ham, Essex and was 22 years old. He was working as a Milk Carrier. ^[4]
