Schwarz, L.J., Kaufman, E. and Jacober, J. The Giger’s: Early American Settlers; Early Madison County, Illinois Settlers (1809). Self published, September, 1984. This family history is “the result of eleven years of research…[involving] visits to various courthouses in several states, visits to archival libraries, trips to Tennessee, Virginia and Pennsylvania. Census records, marriage records, obituaries and land records were obtained and studied. The services of regional researchers were sometimes uses. Close and distant relatives were solicited for comparison and analysis of information which was often confusing and mysterious until the puzzles were finally solved. Coordination by letter with many other Giger family researchers was accomplished.” Individual sources given in this document are noted as separate references.
