Biography

  • From his published obituary (see attachment) , Edward was born in 1803.
Edward Giggey, one of the oldest men in New England, died in Fort Fairfield at the home of his son Randolph Giggey, Friday morning, Sept 8th @ five o'clock, in his 103rd year. His death was caused from a fall from a window of Mr. Giggey's new house, then being built, into the cellar, about 15 feet, over a month ago, since which he has not been well. But for this accident it seems he might have lived some years longer. Of Mr. Giggey's wonderful strength and activity till the past few months we have spoken quite recently. The above photo from which the above cut was made was taken when Mr. Giggey was over 100 years old. He was born in New Brunswick May 24 1803, just sixteen years before Queen Victoria.

Note

  • Here's a line I received for a Colorado cousin of Geo W Giggey: "My father was Theron Giggey who lived in Loveland, CO. His father was Daniel Giggey, born in Maine. His father was William B. Giggey. His parents were Edward Giggey and Mary Bishop from New Brunswick."

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Edward by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Edward:
