"Abijah ye son of Mr John Gilbert was baptised" at Tamworth, Cole Hill (Presbyterian) on 21 Nov 1747.[1]

7, 8 Apr 1774: "Lease and release by 1. Abijah Gilbert of Coxbich, county Leicester, grazier to 2. Joseph Bostock of Weston yeoman, for £300, of Old Close containing 5 acres in Weston in the possession of Joseph Bostock.[2]

4 May 1774: Covenant made between 1. William Markham and Mary his wife (described as in Ref D 779B/T 1144) and Abijah Gilbert of Coxbich, county Leicester, yeoman, eldest son of Mary by John Gilbert deceased and 2. Joseph Bostock of Weston yeoman by which for 10s paid by Bostock, the Markhams and Gilbert covenanted to levy a fine of property as in D 779B/T 1145-6 to the use of Bostock, his heirs and assigns.[3]

1777: He is assumed to be the Abijah Gilbert of Attleborough in Warwickshire who married Mary Yates of Chacombe at Chacombe in Northamptonshire by Licence on 3 Apr 1777.[4]

1782: Land Tax record at Nuneaton.[5]

26 May 1806: Attested copy of marriage settlement dated 10 Feb 1779 of Jonathan Bostock of Weston farmer, eldest son and heir of Joseph late of Weston farmer deceased and Mary Bates of Hop Johns Hill, parish Swepstone, county Leicester spinster, eldest daughter of Thomas Bates farmer late of same place deceased, for her portion of £450 and £50, settling messuage, outbuildings, homestead, Cow Close and garden in Blackforby, county Leicester, in the tenure of Richard Ault, Santop Close containing 3 acres, the little meadow 1 acre, Cockpitts Close one rood, Cots Close divided into the Great and Little Cow Closes 11 acres, given to Jonathan's mother Sarah by her father Thomas Bostock late of Blackforby husbandman deceased, Bowthorpe Close 3 acres, Small ?ans Close 4 acres, in possession of Richard Ault, messuage called the Drift House with Croft or Lane Close to the Drift House adjoining, containing 1 acre in Blackforby, in tenure of Nathan Cooper and John Haskett, 2 closes in Weston upon Trent called the Old Closes 9 acres in possession of Jonathan Bostock one of which was purchased by Samuel Bostock late uncle of Jonathan, from George Gilbert of Weston schoolmaster and heir of Thomas Gilbert of Weston yeoman deceased and the other was purchased by Joseph deceased father of Jonathan from Abijah Gilbert of Cotsbich, county Leicester, grazier.[6]

Coxbich/Cotsbich assumed to be referring to Cotesbach.

He appears to be the Abijah Gilbert who moved to the US by 1790[7] and died at Gilbertsville on 11 Jul 1811.[8]
