Moved with his parents to Graves Co., KY in1834 , at age 17, after his father died, he returned to Robertson, Tennessee,and spent the remainder of his live in Carrol County. (obituary found on his FAG memorial)

He served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War,

1863 Military Unit : Third (Forrest's) Cavalry, captured at Carrol, TN 23 Feb, was a prisoner of war at Military Prison in Altoes, IL., paroled and sent to City Point, VA for exchange 7 May 1863.[2]
