Capt William Gilbert, a Rev. soldier and farmer and the son of Rebeckah Drew and Benjamin Gilbert Sr., and the wife of Betsey Bailey, was born on 7 Aug 1756 in Halifax, Plymouth County, Massachusetts, and died in Leeds, Maine on 25 May 1816. [1]
In 1772, above the age of 14 years, William made the choice of Francis Tomson of Middleborough to be his guardian.[2]
William married Betsey in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts on 19 Sep 1782[3]and their known children are:
