Othniel "Gilburt", son of "Samuell and Lydea" was born in Brookfield, Massachusetts on Oct 30, 1728. [1]

Deacon Othniel Gilbert died on 6 Feb 1795 aged 66 at Brookfield, Worcester, Massachusetts and is buried at North Brookfield.[2]

Othniel Gilbert first married Rachael Abbott about 1748. On Sept. 11, 1793[3] he married Mrs. Susanna Allen, born probably at Bridgewater, MA about 1731; died in 1818, aged 87 years.

She first married William Allen, Dec. 28,1748; second Isaac Allen, July 10, 1788, and third Deacon Othniel Gilbert. According to the West Brookfield Congregational Church records she had a fourth husband. She joined that church Nov. 30, 1777.

Othniel Gilbert signed Brookfield remonstrance, May 15, 1750. He joined the church at West Brookfield, Sept. 7, 1766 and was chosen deacon, Oct. 14, 1767. He served as private in the French and Indian War, in Capt. Jacob Abbott's company, Colonel Ruggles's regiment, according to a Return Nov. I, 1757. He was a selectman of Brookfield in 1779. [4]

Othniel disposed of his property in the years before his death. On 25 December 1778, Othniel Gilbert yeoman of Brookfield, in consideration of £600, conveyed several parcels in Brookfield, including one small parcel with a dwelling house, to Levi Gilbert. On 10 October 1785, Othniel Gilbert, in consideration of £400, conveyed 45 acres in Brookfield with dwelling house to Pelatiah Gilbert. On 16 December 1785, Othniel Gilbert, in consideration of £5, conveyed to William Allen of Brookfield a 12-acre tract in Brookfield. On 8 May 1788, Deacon Othniel Gilbert and Pelatiah Gilbert, in consideration of £14, conveyed small parcels in Brookfield to Levi Gilbert.[5]

Gilbert-3316 and Gilbert-2011 appear to represent the same person because: Duplicate. Same birth date and parents. Records show only one son named Othniell for this couple.
