Biography

This profile is part of the Gilbert Name Study.

Baptised at West Bromwich (All Saints) on 22 May 1774 with parents named as Daniel and Mary Gilbert.[1]These parents are confirmed for this Benjamin who married Phebe Bibb (not to be confused with other Benjamin Gilberts of the same period) by Daniel Gilbert's Will.

He married Phoebe BIBB on 6 April 1795 at St Mary, Handsworth, Staffordshire with witnesses William Gilbert and Frances Ault.[2]

The Will of Benjamin Gilbert of Kenyon Street, Birmingham dated 10 Feb 1820 and with probate dated 16 May 1822, names wife Phoebe and 9 children: William, Jane, John, Benjamin, Phebe, Paul, Mary, Daniel, Samuel.[3]

He died in 1822, and was buried at St Paul, Birmingham on 17 Mar aged 47 . [4]

Occupation

Benjamin was a Scale Beam Maker.
