Biography

George Donald was born in 1881. He was the son of Joseph Gilbertson and Eliza Lockyer. ^[1]. He married Agnes Bertha Harris in 1904 ^[2] Gilbertson—Harris.— On April 4th, at Wanganui, George, 2nd son of Joseph Gilbertson, to Agnes Bertha, only daughter of the late Harold Harris. ^[3]

A very pretty wedding took place at the residence of Mr John Gilbertson, Argyle street, Wanganui, on Monday, the contracting parties being Mr George Donald Gilbertson, second son of Mr Joseph Gilbertsen, and Miss Agnes Bertha Harris, only daughter of Mrs John Corkhill, of Palmerston North, The bride who was attired in cream silk, wore the usual orthodox veil and orange blossoms and carried a shower bouquet, the gift of Miss Watson, of Palmerston North. She also wore a greenstone heart the gift of the bridegroom. The bride was given away by her stepfather, Mr John Corkhill, of Palmerston North. The bridesmaids were Miss Gilbertson and Miss E. M. Gilbertsen, sisters of the bridegroom The bride’s travelling dress was a navy blue tailor-made costume. The presents wore numerous and costly, coming from all parts of Now Zealand. The newly wedded couple left by the afternoon tram en route for Patea, their future home. ^[4]
