Gordon Gilchrist was married to Vennie Lee Carrell on 13 January 1921 in Canton, Van Zandt County, Texas.[6] They were the parents of at least six children.
A 1930 United States Census has not yet been located for this family.
In 1935, William Gordon Gilchrist's uncle, Edmond "Edom" Messer Gilchrist submitted a sworn affidavit in a legal case regarding the ownership of land in Texas. In the affidavit, he outlined his extended family. Gordon was mentioned in the document. "...John W. Gilchrist had nine children all of which are living, the names of which are: John Gilchrist, Mrs. Claudie Gilchrist Goodwin, Mrs. Nancy Gilchrist Osborn, Gordon Gilchrist, Mrs. Katie Gilchrist Young, Mrs. Julia Gilchrist Speer, Richard Gilchrist, Lois Gilchrist Snow and Mrs. Gordie Miller Gilchrist Wright." The full transcript of the affidavit can be found on Edmond Messer Gilchrist's WikiTree profile.[7]
