Biography

William was baptised on 27 December 1829 in Cardross, Dunbartonshire, Scotland. His parents were William Gilchrist (1794 - 1851) and Agnus Mcewan (1797 - 1880)[1]

In the 1851 census William (age 18), Baker (app), was the brother of Ann Gilchrist in Random StreetAlexandria, Bonhill, Dumbartonshire.[2]

William married Sarah Ingram (1834 - 1920) on 12 March 1858 in Kirkintilloch, Dunbartonshire, Scotland.[3]
