Henry Gilchrist died of disease during United States Civil War.

Henry was born in 1837. He was the son of Scottish immigrant Andrew Gilchrist and Sarah Dales. ^[1]

He married Elizabeth Jones in 1858 in Rockford, Illinois. ^[2]They had no children.

In 1862 Henry joined the 74th Regiment, Illinois Infantry, Company D. He died of Illness in February 1863. ^[3][4][5]

Elizabeth's brother Charles was in this unit and also died of illness in April that year.
