Death Notice: John Gile,79 of 917 Iowa St., a Davenport resident for 25 years, died Friday at Veterans Hospital, Iowa City, after an extended illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Runge Chapel, with burial in Waterloo Cemetery, Waterloo, Iowa.
Mr. Gile was formerly employed for the Rock Island Chicago and North Western Railway. He had been a bartender since 1945 retiring in 1953.
Mr. Gile was a veteran of World War I.
Survivors include his wife, sons, Ernie, Clinton, Iowa and Robert, Memphis, Tenn., daughters, Mrs. Robert Shumake, Preston, Iowa, and Mrs. John streets, Tampa, Fla.; a step-daughter, Mrs. Thomas Fosets, and 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. (Times Dem. June 10,1967. p.11)[4]
