Beryl was born in 1895. She was the daughter of Douglas Giles and Corinna Arbuthnot.

At the age of 23 she married 25 year old Colin Erle McKenzie (son of Alfred Charles McKenzie and Margaret Jane Blake) on 17 April 1918 at Greytown, Natal, South Africa. His occupation was recorded as Labour Agent.^[1]

They had three daughters.

She passed away in 1949 at the age of 54.
