Biography

Martha Myrtle Giles Mutter was born on October 22, 1898 in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, to Isaac Benjamin Giles and Mary Margaret Statzer. She married Armon Mutter and they lived in Amarillo, TX.^[1] They had four children together, the third child, Nellie Mae, was my grandmother.^[2] Martha died in Amarillo on May 22, 1922, three days after having surgery.^[3] Note that there is conflicting dates for her date of birth. Her death record and the 1920 census show a birth year of 1899 while her grave stone lists the year of birth as 1898.^[4]
