On 5 Dec 1625, John was called as a witness at General Court. He testified that he heard Jeffery Cornish say he would be the cause of death to those that were the cause of his brother’s death.[8]
"In July 1627 Jonathan Giles, whose contract apparently had been sold, sued for his freedom in Elizabeth City's court, claiming that his time of service with Nicholas Roe had expired. Merchant Thomas Weston successfully disputed Giles's assertion, and he [Giles] was required to serve an additional six months, two of which were to cover court costs."[5] The following Court order is found, given on 8 Feb 1628:[9]
"It is ordered that whereas John Giles did in the last Summer in July at the Court at Elizabeth City take his oath that his time of service with his Master Nicolas Roe, was expired, & whereas the contrary appeareth by the oath of Thomas Weston Merchant, The Court upon the petition of the said Nicolas Roe hath ordered that the said John Giles shall serve his Master 6 months time, about two months of the same being for damages which the said Nicolas Roe hath sustained in the suit."
On December 5. 1628, Jonathan testified about a conversation he had had with Jeffrey Cornish, whose brother had been executed."[5]
No further record has been found for Jonathan Giles.
