Research Notes

(History of Louisa Co. by Malcolm Harris) has Mary Giles married to William Harris. (28 Jul 1694 Mary (Giles) Harris wife of Wm Harris of New Kent County gives Power of Attorney to Sarah Knibb (ie: Sarah Browne d. 1696) (this from pg 33 of 1672 William Harris 1743) Witness: George Alves/Alice Alves Henrico Co. Record Book #5 Pg 507. [1][2] "In 1704 it was made St . Pauls and he appeared among the early processioners in the precinct along Tottopotomic Creek which later became Hanover . William Harris , born 1672 , married Mary Giles who was from a family of good standing..."[3][4]

Some sites has that she is the wife of Robert Harris rather then William Harris.

There were several William Harris' alive at the same time, in the same area. Previously this profile was attached to William Harris that married Temperance Overton, but he didn't have two wives.[5] Disconnected her from the William Harris who was married to Temperance Overton.

Giles-1125 and Giles-591 appear to represent the same person because: I'm thinking that Giles-1125 is also intended as the same Mary Giles represented by Giles-591. Please merge if you agree. Thanks!

Hi! There are a bunch of Harris/Giles marriages in WikiTree. I started encountering them while working on all the various Thomas Harrises of Virginia. I tried to sort them out but didn't have much luck.

Cheers, Liz
