Biography
Rachel Charlotte was born on 11 September 1837 in Cradock, Cape Colony; she was the daughter of Adam Gilfillan and Maria Cecilia (Marais) Gilfillan.
She was 18 years old when she married 21-year-old James Rawstorne on the farm 'Wonderheuwel' near Colesburg, Cape Colony on 10 October 1855.[1]
