Biography

John Alexander was born in the Cape Colony on 3 August 1871; he was the son of John Alexander Gilfillan and Hester Johanna (van Heerden) Gilfillan.

He was 27 years old when he married 24-year-old Teacher Louisa Jacoba Schutte in the home of BJ Janse van Rensburg at Driefontein, Cradock, Cape Colony, on 27 December 1897.[1]
