Biography

James Gilkey was born on 29 April 1756 in Gorham, Maine. His parents were James Gilkey and Martha (Morton) Gilkey[1].

He married Polly Marr on 17 May 1782[2]. They had seven children[3]:

1. Dennis, born 4 Oct 1786; married Betsey Hobson
2. Reuben, born 19 Dec 1788; married 1st Eliza Marr, 2nd Phebe Marr
3. Phoebe, born 20 Jan 1792; married John Brackett
4. Mary, born 4 Aug 1796; married Amos Hobson
5. Martha, born 4 Aug 1796; married Amos Hobson (2nd wife)
6. Joseph, born 1800; married Louisa Jackson
7. Elizabeth, born 1803

James passed away on 29 April 1831 in South Limington, Maine[4].
