Helen was born in 1879. She was the daughter of John Gill and Elizabeth Peach. Helen was baptized 20 April 1879 at Flamstead, Hertfordshire, England.[1]
She married the Rev. Francis Thornburgh in 1907. They were the parents of a son named David Gill Thornburgh born in 1911. At the time of his birth, the family was living at Marylebone, London, where Francis was working as a clergyman. Helen's sister, Lucy May Gill, a nurse, was also living with them.

The were the parents of Francis John Newcombe, born 1907; David Gill, already mentioned above; Katharine Mary Perceval, born 1911; and Michael Hubert , born 1917.
She died 30 AUG 1923 in Surrey. Her will was probated 10 December of the same year in London. "Helen Margaret Shelley Thornburgh of 35 Larpent Avenue Putner Surrey (wife of the Reverend Francis Thornburgh Thornburgh) died 30 August 1923. Administration London 10 December to the said Reverend Francis Thorburgh Thornburgh clerk.[3]
