David was born in 1648. He passed away in 1717.
Note from April Gill Page, concerning David Gill's parentage (her source - Gill Genealogy Page; Frank O. Clark):
"Could be the David Gill who was transported to Maryland in 1674 or he could have been a son of Stephen Gill of York Co., VA. Resided in Mattapony Neck, VA which is today known as King William Co., VA but was part of Northumberland Co., VA until the mid-1700s. The Mattaponi is the northern of the two rivers which merge to form the York River. David would have resided on the right bank, which became King William Co. The geographical location of David argues that he is the son (or grandson) of old Stephen Gill, as much of Stephen Gill's land was on both sides of the York River, just downstream from David Gill. David Gill of Mattapony, Northumbria buys land from Hugh Dermott on March 20, 1702/3. The location name, "Mattapony", reveals that David Gill resided on the Mattaponi River, which flows into the York River. Re-records this deed on July 18, 1711. David Gill has land adjoining John Claughton in Mattapony Neck, St. Stephen's Parish. He is witness to a deed from one Claughton to another on January 18, 1707/8."
