Biography

Mary was born in 1875. She is the daughter of Jerome Gill and Mary Scanlan.


The family lived on Chapel Street when Mary Frances was baptized on 23 May 1875 at Saint Senan's in Killaloe. Sponsors were Rev. Jerome Fahy and Mary Jane Hoaselott.

In the 1901 census, Mary Gill was a Shopkeeper, living at house 77 on Moore Street, Kilrush Urban, Clare. Everyone in the household was Catholic and could read and write.
Present were: Mary Gill, aged 61, a widow, in "General Business"
also present were her children,
