Thomas Henry Gill was born in 1881, son of John Henry Gill (1841–1924) and Sarah Way Lucock (1850-1898).

Thomas died on 3 February 1931 in Hastings, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand, aged 49. He was helping his staff to escape when he was killed by the Hawke's Bay Earthquake
