Frank Lee Gill was born September 25, 1900 to parents Solon Lee and Dora Gentry Gill in Dekalb County, Tennessee.
He died August 17, 1971 in Omaha , Nebraska. His mother, Dora died when he was nine with two younger siblings, sister and brother.
He listed his age as two years older and joined the Navy at 17 in 1918 , was F/1 WW1 and was discharged in 1919. He worked at many things, wheat harvest in Nebraska, school bus driver, (where he met his wife, my mother a teacher) Detroit Policeman, tobacco and Registered cattle farmer, defense industry in Detroit during WW2.
He was married to Kate Lancaster Gill for 25 years and had a Son and two daughters. They divorced and he returned to Omaha and married an old sweetheart who was widowed , Irene Sorensen Edmondson. She was employed at Florence Crittendon Hospital in Omaha where Frank worked on the boilers as he did in the Navy ! He worked until he was 70. He died the next year.
He was a Lutheran and a Mason.
His son, Lt Col. Linden Lee Gill retired US Air Force, has a section of highway named for him that passes by the farm in Smith County, Tennessee.
