Lizzie Jane Gillanders was born about 1853 in Ballinagall, County Monaghan, Ireland, daughter of James Joseph Gillanders (~1818–1893) of Ballinagall and Jane Campbell (~1826–~1853).

Lizzie (24) married James Gillanders (35) (born on October 20, 1842 in Ballinagall (Crosses), Co Monaghan, Ireland; son of James Gillanders and Jane (Ross) Gillanders) on August 23, 1878 in First Monaghan Presbyterian Church, Monaghan, Ireland. ^[1] Their children were:
