Biography

Edward Gillanders was born in 1838 in Ireland. [1][2] His parents were James Gillanders a farmer from Ballymacforbane and Jane Ross.

He married Rachel Hollandthe daughter of John Holland, a farmer from Drumhirk,County Monaghan ,Ireland on October 16, 1863 [3] They emigrated to New Zealand the same year.

They had seven children born in New Zealand.
