Jacob is the son of Ed Gillanders and Joan Trimingham.
Jacob was born in Seattle, Washington and grew up in Bainbridge Island, Washington. He currently lives in Kingston, Washington.
He went to high school at the Northwest School in Seattle, and graduated from Bainbridge High School in 1998. He then attended Olympic College in Bremerton, earning his Associates of Arts and Sciences. He completed his education at Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Washington. He earned his Bachelors of Science degree in prehospital medicine in 2001.
Jake has worked as a paramedic/firefighter since October of 2000, and is currently employed by the Poulsbo Fire Department in Poulsbo, Washington.
Jake is an avid outdoorsman, pursuing hobbies in camping, fishing, hiking, whitewater rafting, and hunting. He's also a mildly accomplished bagpiper who plays independently, with a pub trio, and with the Pierce County Firefighters Pipes and Drums band, based in Puyallup, Washington. Jake is also a Master Mason and active in freemasonry at Franklin Lodge No. 5 in Port Gamble, Washington.
