Biography
The son of Michael Gilleran & Mary Mahon, he emigrated to the from Ireland to U.S. arriving in New York in 1846.
He married Jane Scott and they had twelve children together:
Maria "Mary" (b-1847 m-Barlow); William (b-1849); Margaret (b-1851); Bridget Theresa (b-1853 m-Keegan); Michael John (b-1854); John E. (b-1855); Jane E. (b-1858*), listed as disabled and unlike rest of family, unable to read or write); Patrick (b-1859 or 1861*); Thomas (b-1861 or 1864*); Edward J. (b-1864 or 1860*); Robert H. (b-1866*); and Anna E. (b-1868* m-Caffrey).
